Field work done the optimal way
Esri Hungary Ltd. has a solution called ArcGis, which relies on spatial data to provide business decision-makers with the latest data they need. Attila Oláh, the managing director of Esri Hungary told our magazine that having all the relevant information makes it easier for making strategic decisions. Esri ArcGIS holds together a wide range of information and presents them visually on a map. What is it good for? For instance there was a case when a firm decided to reduce the size of its sales team. Before making people redundant the management used the Esri solution to examine the different areas sales managers cover. Seeing route data visually on a map made it clear that some areas overlapped, so new, optimised routes had to be developed for sales managers. The order in which sales managers visited places was also modified. Consequently, sales managers had to work 40 minutes less a day, this entailed HUF 2,000 lower costs per sales manager per day for the firm. With the help of Esri ArcGIS the company also mapped potential customers and inserted visits to them in the new routes. Annamária Goldschmied, business development manager with Esri Hungary added that sales managers’ movement can be monitored in real time, so executives can see instantly if they deviate from the route. ArcGIS is a cloud-based service to which customers can subscribe in the first stage, but they can also purchase the software at once. Teaching partners how to use it is also part of the service. It is very important to make partners get used to thinking visually and to teach them how the solution can help them make various types of decisions.
