Extreme wine labels spreading

Labels make a big difference when customers do not have a definite idea of what kind of wine they are looking for. Today, the trend is to make labels simple and easy to understand. And there is also a trend to make extreme labels. Extreme labels are surprising or shocking. They are increasingly popular, because they command attention, though not everybody likes to be shocked. This kind of design is not seen frequently in Hungary yet, but it has arrived. Of course, extreme labels are not always distasteful or shocking, since they can also be funny. The biggest problem with this style is however, that such labels don’t have much to do with the wine in the bottle. It is easy to make a big mistake…
It is not easy to classify extreme wine labels, but the following is one of the attempts:
Labels with photos of celebrities
Labels with photos of infamous persons or politicians
Labels with scary characters from fairy tales
Labels with monsters
Labels with rude or funny words
Labels with erotic content
Among the famous people on wine labels we can see Marylin Monroe, Hitler, Mussolini, Che Gevarra, Castro, Stalin and we also have a label with the words: ”Who cares?” targeted at a special type of consumer.
