The first ball of the Gundel Palace conquered the stars with a full house
On Saturday, February 7, the Gundel Palace opened its doors for the first time for the evening of the ball – and it immediately became clear: a tradition was born. The “Among the Stars” themed Gundel Ball became a real community experience with a full house, 345 guests, at three locations.
The evening was not only an elegant social event, but a consciously built new chapter in the history of Gundel. The building’s past came to life on the facade of the Palace, while the lights of the building in the City Park signaled from afar: something special is happening here.
The chief guests of the ball were three key figures in Hungarian space research: Tibor Kapu, Gyula Cserényi and Bertalan Farkas. Their presence not only strengthened the “Among the Stars” concept, but also the message that performance, knowledge and community are part of the same story.
One of the strongest moments of the evening was when the hologram of Károly Gundel appeared, and the opening was made memorable by the voice of Zoltán Latinovics. The iconic figures of the past were thus naturally connected to the present – not as monuments, but as living thoughts. The dance floor quickly filled up after the first ballers: the evening started with nearly fifty couples, and in a short time it became clear that the room was full and the atmosphere was free. Before the opening dance, a short but spectacular show program – with aerial gymnasts and mirror dancers – set the tone for the evening.
Gastronomy also appeared in a playful, creative form thanks to corporate chef András Wolf and executive chef Róbert Vérten and their team. One of the guests’ favorites was the croissant served in a tube, which evoked the space theme as a subtle hint. Among the activities, the Tactile Universe stood out, which was the greatest success among the guests, proving that the experience really works when it is shared. The hosts of the evening, Gábor Gundel Takács and Anna Mikes, contributed a lot with their direct and lovable presence to make the ball not only beautiful, but also human. The feedback from the guests reflected their perfect satisfaction, some said: “This ball had a soul.”
The Gundel Ball was not a one-time event. The continuation is already being outlined: the summer music and dance evenings will return, on a fortnightly basis, further strengthening the community approach that defined this first ball.
Saturday evening’s event left a clear message:
the ball at the Gundel Palace is not a reminder of the past – but the beginning of a new, living tradition.
