Good quality melon will be harvested this season

Thanks to the long-lasting warmth, the Hungarian melon production will have a good quality this year again – the National Agricultural Chamber (NAK) told MTI.

In Hungary – basically because of the bad weather of last year – the production area fell by 10 percent to 5000 hectares, but the volume did not fall back. The producers are able to fulfill the domestic demand. The watermelon’s production area is about 4400 hectares. The most significant production areas are located in Békés, Heves, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg, Tolna and Baranya counties. (MTI)
