Last year, brewing and consumption fell in the Czech Republic
Year-on-year, the volume of beer brewed in the Czech Republic fell by 6.9 percent to 20.1 million hectoliters last year – the Czech Brewing Association announced in Prague on Tuesday.
The average annual beer consumption per capita also fell, by about seven liters – 14 mugs – to 135 liters. Most recently, beer consumption in the Czech Republic was so low as in the 1960s, experts noted. The decline is due to restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic, as restaurants in the Czech Republic and abroad have been restricted to varying degrees for months. (MTI)
