Last year the decline in the number of food stores have stopped
The Nielsen market research company registered a total of 19 900 general food stores in Hungary, at the end of the year, almost the same as a year earlier. The number of the shops with 50 square meter area and smaller shops, did not decline either.
Although the number of stores essentially remained unchanged, the commercial networks concentrate further. The number of both hyper-and supermarkets increased as well as the number of discounts. The number of hypermarkets increased from 137 to 152 in a year.
The number of food stores, that also distributes cosmetics and household goods increased by 80, compared to the previous year, reaching 18 470.
