It is prohibited to market foods containing more than allowed trans fatty acid from Wednesday
From Wednesday, it is prohibited to market foods containing more than 2 grams of trans fatty acids in 100 grams of total fat content.
The one-year grace period ends on February 18 after the adoption of the law that are applied to such prepackaged foods that have already produced when the legislation came into force.
The provision covers those oils, fats, fat emulsions that are intended for the consumers alone or as an ingredient in a food. The regulation does not affect fats of animal origin, naturally occurring trans fatty acids. (MTI)
