After the big jump in April, the GKI business cycle index slowly picked up in the summer months and then stagnated by September; the months-long improvement in business expectations in September was only within the margin of error, and consumer expectations deteriorated slightly but for the third month in a row, the economic researcher told MTI.

GKI: consumer confidence is far from pre-pandemic levels

According to a survey conducted by the GKI with the support of the EU, the value of the GKI business cycle index corresponds to the level at the end of 2019, ie before the crisis, which was minus 0.5 points after minus 0.6 points of the previous month. The value of the business confidence index improved by 6.5 points from 6.1 points in August, while the consumer confidence index deteriorated to minus 20.3 points from minus 19.7 points of the previous month.
