Trade day
The year’s last trade day of the guild took place in November. Dávid Tóth, head of department at the National Food Chain Safety Office (NÉBIH) was the first speaker. He informed guild members about the latest food safety issues. Then the participants of the FLOW project – realised as part of the Erasmus+ programme – talked about their experiences.
Éva Vojtek was the next speaker, who summarised what new things confectioners could learn in the workshops they visited in Italy. The study trip’s participants also showed their new skills and ideas in practice. Next those who took part in the »flow« programme received their Europass diplomas. Balázs Erdélyi, trade president of the guild gave a presentation about how this year’s cakes in the Cake of Hungary contest performed in social media, and about the importance of using an original recipes and the best technology to maintain the project’s level of quality and credibility.
A roundtable discussion followed, moderated by Márta Wessely, which focused on the product selections and pricing strategies of confectioneries in Budapest and outside of the capital city. The programme’s conclusion came from Ernő Bergman: Confectioners must serve quality desserts to their guests, and they shouldn’t be modest when it comes to pricing if the products are of high quality. Experiences and tasty desserts are what guests need, and if this is what they get, they will happily part with their money.
