Experts: the price cap is not sustainable, it’s time to end it
Tamás Éder, president of the Association of Responsible Food Producers, and András Máhr, deputy secretary general of the National Association of Agricultural Cooperatives and Producers, agree that official prices cannot be maintained any longer. As they said: they thought it was only a temporary step, but “the semester is already beyond the limit of temporaryness”.
“It is quite certain that there will be further increases in food prices in the next period”
– the deputy general secretary of the National Association of Agricultural Cooperatives and Producers talked about this in the ATV Start program.
He also drew attention to the fact that the Hungarian state collects a third of the value of every purchased product as tax. In addition to the domestic VAT of 27 percent for food, there is also the extra profit tax, which, according to Máhr, is “practically still 4 percent”.
“I don’t want to comment, everyone can think it over”
András Máhr added.
