Prices are racing in the eurozone
Inflation in the euro area accelerated to a record high in November, mainly due to the continued significant rise in energy prices.
According to a preliminary estimate by Eurostat, the European Union’s statistical office, the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for the eurozone rose to 4.9 percent year-on-year.
Such high inflation has not been recorded in the euro area since 1997, when data processing began. (MTI)
