STR: tourism does not get much chance to recover after covid
As result of the reopening, covid can be called less and less a factor influencing travel decisions. But the new mumus is coming – says Portfolio, one of the largest global tourism market data analysis companies (STR).

Covid no longer affects our desire to travel
As it turned out, the hindering factors related to the epidemiological situation – closures, fear of infection, use of masks, etc. – only 4-5 globally. take up space when we look for the answer to the question of why guests cancel their already booked trips, or why they do not plan to travel in the next year. While in February 2021, 68% of those surveyed considered the epidemic situation to be a hindering factor in making their own travel decisions, this proportion dropped to 26% by the end of 2021, and to only 16% by July 2022.
The economic events of the past months, – the increase in inflation, changes in gasoline prices, increases in raw material prices, energy and utility costs, air traffic strikes, etc. -, the consequences of which are currently the most decisive factors affecting travel, including the main elements such as the constantly rising costs of accommodation, hospitality and leisure services. This is followed by fears related to travel, flight cancellations or cancellations, and then the ever-increasing household expenses – utilities, food, fuel. In addition to all these and the development of the epidemic situation, influencing factors are also our personal financial situation, the fear of economic instability, and concerns about the development of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
