Starbucks wants extra cash for paper coffee cups
In Britain, single-use coffee cups are becoming more and more problematic. The majority of the coffees requested are bought by buyers in paper bags, producing a lot of garbage. Due to the plastic layer on the glass, however, recycling is very complicated – origo wrote.
The chain has started a three-month trial where 5p is added to the cost of each drink if people do not bring their own mug with them. It affects 35 branches in London, including some in the West End and the City, and money from the extra charge will go to environmental charity Hubbub, which is helping coordinate it. (origo)
