József Werli, secretary general of the Hungarian Bakers’ Association told our magazine that they would be offering a wide range of programmes during the 4 days of UKBA.

There will be competitions (a product contest and Bread of the Nation), spectacular shows (with German and Italian participants as well) and a meeting with consumers, the goal of which is to inform the public about the goals and ideas of the trade. Currently the annual sales revenue of the sector is HUF 125 billion and it is slowly growing. The secretary general’s opinion is that there are successful enterprises but the bakery sector in general is not successful. Presently there are 1,300 baking enterprises in Hungary and about 2,000 exhibition bakeries. The association organises 22 different services for members, including electricity and gas purchasing or the Bakers’ Academy.
