There are many applications, yet effective recruitment is often a challenge for domestic companies
The experiences and ideas of Hungarian companies regarding workforce management have changed only minimally, but the fluctuation has typically decreased since last year. The number of job applications has been consistently high for 2 years, so employers have also improved their chances of finding suitable candidates – these trends were revealed at the Profession.hu HR Conference 2024 online event.
The Profession.hu job portal, analyzing a large sample of 1,213 company applications, prepared its HR Overview publication this year as well, in which companies presented their experiences, expectations and plans. The survey showed that Hungarian companies are now somewhat more optimistic about the size of their workforce next year than at this time last year. More people expect the number of employees to remain unchanged in 2025 and fewer expect a decrease in this regard: last year, 35% of the companies surveyed planned an unchanged size of the workforce, while last year, 40% planned a decrease, while last year, 13% planned a decrease, and this year, 11%.
How high was the fluctuation?
This year, the fluctuation rate has typically stagnated, or rather decreased, and companies are now somewhat more optimistic about the labor migration trends affecting them for 2025 than in the previous two years. In 2023, 44% of the companies surveyed reported greater migration compared to the previous year, while this ratio has currently decreased to 37%. Regardless, retaining colleagues and improving the workplace experience were identified as the main challenges (37%). In addition, shortening the selection process and increasing the budget for recruitment are important future goals for one-third of employers.
