The changes in the fisheries sector are successful
Based on experience and feedback, the changes in the fishery sector have been successful, and over the past few years the number of anglers has increased by more than 150,000 to over 560,000 today, Nagy István, Minister of Agriculture said at the 7th National Fishing Sports Gala and Sponsor Banquet.
The leader of the ministry emphasized that fish is a highly valuable renewable natural resource, while fishing is a good example of sustainable farming that goes back to historical times, for which the agriculture ministry wants to create the ideal conditions for the beginning of the third millennium. He added that in Hungary, from 1 January, 2016, it was possible for the state to lease the right to fish the waters to the Hungarian National Fishermen’s Association (MOHOSZ). According to Nagy István, MOHOSZ has become one of the largest networked NGOs in Hungary.
