Apricot growers may close a successful season
The harvest of apricots is close to completion. Experts expect a good crop both in quantity and quality.
The apricot-growing areas were not affected by the frosts at end of April – the Magyar Idők wrote. In Hungary, otherwise the apricot harvest varies greatly, ranging between 10-27 thousand tons in the past five years – according to data of the Central Statistical Office and the Agricultural Economics Research Institute. While in 2015 the frost, rain and hail resulted in significant losses, this year the late spring frosts did not damage the plantations, so quality is good and a good apricot harvest is expected by the experts.
