Magazine: SIGEP 2018
SIGEP, the International Trade Show of Artisan Gelato, Pastry, Bakery and Coffee was organised for the 39th time this year in Rimini. Balázs Ipacs, Pest County president of the Guild of Hungarian Confectioners was there and shared his experiences with our magazine. There were 209,000 visitors and 1,250 exhibitors at the trade fair.Nearly half of the event was dedicated to ice cream, with such giants present as Mec3, Fabbri1905 and PreGel. However, not only ice cream stepped on the stage – Fusto’s desserts can be recognised from a thousand metres and Roberto Rinaldini’s stand was full of breathtaking bonbons, macarons, doughnuts, etc.
The two dominant colours were black and gold at SIGEP. Since Italian design is world-famous, it is needless to say that visitors had the chance to see the best shop interiors, work clothes and the like. Desserts, chocolate and coffee had their own sections at SIGEP. Interestingly enough, this year chocolate company Callebout realised a strong ice cream presence. They filled several glass cabinets with various types of chocolate ice cream. The trade show also hosted two important international competitions, Gelato World Cup and Ladies World Pastry Championship. //
