VAT on pigs: a price decline in consumer prices may come
After the VAT reduction on live pigs, the government may reduce the VAT on pig carcase meat as well the next year. The Meat Marketing Board told that this measure could put an end to VAT frauds, in addition the consumers could also get healthy Hungarian products at a cheaper price. The poultry industry can be the next beneficiary.
The pig sector closed an exciting year in 2014; on the first of January the VAT on live pigs decreased to 5 percent, which brought a significant market restructuring. The change could be mainly detected in the slaughterhouse industry, where such meat processing plants occured, of which noone ever heard before officially – Németh Antal, president of the Meat Marketing Board Interprofessional Organization told Helyi Híradók.
