Nothing can stop development
28 September was a special day in the history of the Smurfit Kappa Group: they inaugurated the new production line in the Párkány production facility, which was built as part of a EUR 20 million development project that commenced in May 2021.
Thanks to this investment, the factory’s annual output increases by 40 million boxes. At the ceremony, which was titled LIVE the FUTURE Open Air, Smurfit Kappa Group CEO Tony Smurfit welcomed the many people who were present.

Greener production line and product portfolio
Smurfit Kappa is dedicated to introducing eco-friendly solutions. The company’s products are 100% renewable and manufactured sustainably. By 2025 Smurfit Kappa’s CO2 emissions will reduce by 25%. In 2019 they launched the Better Planet Packaging programme, which seeks to promote sustainable packaging in FMCG, e-commerce and various industries. Smurfit Kappa uses its knowledge and experience from the field of sustainable materials to develop renewable, recyclable and biodegradable packaging designs. With their closed loop business model, they collect and recycle more than 90% of used packaging material.
