Experienced newcomer
Sándor Kovács, the winner of the Hungarian qualifying round for Bocuse d’Or is an experienced competitor. He has been working as a cook and later as a chef for thirty years. He had reached the position of chef in just seven years. He had also won a gold and a silver medal at the Olympics and a world championship gold. He was the chef of Szent István restaurant at the Hannover world exhibition in 2000. At present, he is the chef of Granada Wellness Hotel in Kecskemét. The rules of Bocuse d’Or appeared to him to be stricter than those of other competitions he had seen. In Bocuse d’Or, there is no chance for success without a relaxed attitude and innovative ideas. The chairman of the jury, Catteano Graziano (owner of Krízia restaurant) who was placed fourth in the 1992 Bocuse d’Or held in Lyon will help Sándor Kovács and Zoltán Papp in preparing for the final.
