Retail sales in Romania increased by 1.9 percent last year
Retail sales in Romania increased by 1.9 percent in 2023 compared to the previous year, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) announced on Tuesday.
Revenues from the distribution of food, beverages and tobacco increased by 3.6 percent year-on-year, while the increase in non-food products was 3.8 percent. A 4.4 percent drop occurred in the distribution of fuels.
In December 2023, according to raw data, retail sales increased by 0.1 percent compared to the same period in 2022. The sales revenue from the distribution of food, beverages and tobacco exceeded the previous year by 4.7 percent, while the increase in non-food products was 1.6 percent. Sales revenue from the distribution of fuels decreased by 11.3 percent.
