BUSINESS DAYS 2022

TRADE PLAYGROUND

With strict rules

(The hottest topics from the FMCG market discussed from the perspectives of retailers, suppliers, HoReCa businesses and services providers)

Our Guest:

Dr. István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture

Open: 19-23 September 2022

Location: Hunguest Hotel Pelion, Tapolca

We are shovelling in the sandbox, riding on the swing, sometimes we slide down the slide and then we climb back up. We are building a sand castle, we decide to have a go on the swing, then we jump off… once again, in the FMCG sector we are making plans for the future in a changing environment, using adaptive strategies yet another time, during the five days of the conference, in Hungarian and English language.

Chief patron of the playground: Dr. István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture

Playground: this word can have more interpretations and it can symbolise many things. This year it is going to be the theme of our Business Days conference, which will take place in September. Every year the conference revolves around a different theme, which is characteristic of the last year of the trade, its current situation and the year ahead of the food sector until our next meeting. It is needless to say that with these themes, one can also read between the lines sometimes.

The situation isn’t any different this year. Unfortunately after two relatively good years, the present poses several challenges to every representative of the trade – and these challenges are completely different than in the past, plus this time even the government can’t stay out of the situation. Many had the feeling in the past two years that they were going down the slide, while others were forced to sit on the swing – which never takes you forward, because it just goes up and down – and of course there were those who were in a good position and tried to knock off the pieces of competitors from the board, then there are those who have been going up and down the seesaw for quite a while, and more and more market players are struggling on the climbing frames, not to mention the sandbox… And no, these aren’t just toys and games, on the contrary!

There are many unanswered questions at the moment: where will the price increase stop – what do suppliers and retailers think about the situation; for how long will the inflation grow; how long will shoppers cope with the hardships and how much will their purchasing power reduce; how can the problem of the workforce shortage be dealt with; what kind of new strategies can be used to solve the problem of the raw material shortage; how to make plans for the next one-year period… – there are so many topics to be discussed, by analysing the latest research data and reading the latest reports too, with the best experts around the table, and in carefree conversations with old friends and colleagues, which can sometimes lead to “life and death” arguments about the state of play in September. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Just like in the past 15 years, you can benefit from joining us and listening to what the speakers and the roundtable discussion members will have to say about the most topical issues. We will be regularly updating the draft programme. English-Hungarian simultaneous interpreting will be available on all five days of the conference.

10.00–11.00 DR EMIL NESZMÉLYI, who climbed Mount Everest – Everest: If all else fails
Emil Neszmélyi runs his own law firm, but at the same time also participates in expeditions; he reached this year second time the summit of Mount Everest in spite of living with asthma. He knows how to accomplish impossible missions and overcome the biggest challenges. Why is mental preparation more important than physical training, and how can these help FMCG managers in the daily battles of the business world? He will answer these questions and many others in this sixty-minute conversation.

11.00–12.00 DR LÁSZLÓ ÚJSZÁSZI-BOGÁR persuasion and influence technique expert – Science of persuasion in FMCG sector
László Bogár knows a lot of persuasion techniques through his own domestic and international research programs. He is not only an expert of the art of subliminal influence, but also a teacher. He completed his doctoral degree at ELTE University and the persuasion technique model developed in his thesis has already been taught at Dubai University since 2019. What and how to say and write so that we are more likely to achieve our goals, or to understand why we react in certain situations in a way that we would otherwise not – in countless areas of business life, we can consciously use the technical elements of persuasion that inspire our partners to make good decisions.

12.00–12.15 A quick break

12.15–13.15 FATHER FERI PÁL – Peace in a turbulent period – How shall I cope with my external and internal problems?
This isn’t the first time that Feri Pál comes to our conference, as a few years ago he was the keynote speaker, because he is a motivational speaker and mental hygiene expert. This year the conference’s programme ends with him – and not by accident!
We must adapt to a lot of changes nowadays and this makes our lives difficult. Luckily challenges and solutions always go hand in hand, even if this is hard to see at the first glance.
