Record quantities of counterfeit cigarettes were seized by the Belgian customs authorities
126 million counterfeit cigarettes have been seized by the Belgian customs authorities in Antwerp since the beginning of the year – the Belgian customs authorities announced on Friday.
According to the announcement, the fake branded Rothmans Blue, John Player Special and Em@il cigarettes came from Southeast Asia and their destination is still unknown. This is more than 70 percent of the total amount seized in 2019. Eight persons of Turkish origin have been arrested in connection with the case and their questioning is ongoing. (MTI)
