Employers’ expectations are optimistic – 45% of companies plan to increase staff in 2025
With the exception of Nógrád County, the number of applications received for job advertisements increased throughout the country in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the same period of the previous year. The largest increase was observed in the counties of Somogy, Fejér and Zala.At the same time, the number of available jobs continued to decrease slightly, but steadily, according to this year’s third quarter report of Profession.hu.
In Hungary, job seekers submitted a total of 6.9% more applications for job advertisements activated on the Profession.hu interface in the third quarter of 2024 than in the same period last year. During the three months under review, the number of open positions waiting to be filled decreased by 2% on the most visited domestic job portal.
With the exception of one county, job seekers are more active than last year
With the exception of Nógrád county (-27.2%), the number of applications for open positions increased throughout the country, with the largest proportion in Somogy (38.5%), Fejér (34.2%) and Zala (32.1%) counties. The three areas with the most intense employee activity are closely followed by the other counties, which also achieved an increase in the number of applications above 20%: Csongrád-Csanád (29%), Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok (28.9%), Győr-Moson-Sopron (28 .3%), Vas (24.4%), Veszprém (23.7%), Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén (23.6%), Pest (22.7%), Bács-Kiskun (21.8%) , and Hajdú-Bihar (20.9%).
The smallest increase was measured by Profession.hu in Békés county, where the number of applications exceeded the result achieved in the same period of the previous year by 2.5%.
The interest of job seekers increased most in the categories of company management, management and HR, labor affairs
The order of professions preferred by jobseekers has been rearranged: 40.6% more applications were submitted at the national level for the opportunities available in the company management and management category than a year earlier.
There was also a double-digit increase in HR, labor affairs (24.1%), catering, hotels, tourism (21.4%), manufacturing, production
(20.3%), business support centers (20%), law, legal advice (18.9%), IT programming and development (15.2%), physical, auxiliary, trained work (14, 1%), also for positions advertised in the fields of professional work (13.2%), customer service and customer service (10.3%), and IT operation and telecommunications (10.2%) – the latter was still in first place in the previous quarter featured
The largest decrease can be seen in the proportion of applicants for agriculture and the environment (-36.3%).
