The fish may be cheaper as well
According to the operators of the sectors, the VAT should be reduced not only on pork, but also on dairy products and fish.
Lévai Ferenc former president of the National Association and Product Board of Fish Producers told Magyar Nemzet that the state revenue loss due to the lower Value Added Tax (VAT) would show a return within a year. He calculated that in Hungary 15 thousand tonnes of fish is consumed annually. Calculated with one thousand HUF per kilo, the reduction would cost the state a net 2.5 billion HUF.
