Investing in improving our quality of life can be a smart decision

In the first quarter of this year, more than 800,000 Hungarian families will receive a significant amount of money through the payment of interest on maturing government securities. While many are thinking about reinvesting the proceeds, many families are also modernizing their homes or buying appliances that can increase the comfort of their homes. And although it may seem strange at first to consider an air conditioner, washing machine or refrigerator as an investment, the numbers show that modernizing our outdated household appliances, electronic devices or heating systems can be a surprisingly smart decision.

When we talk about investments, most of us probably think of financial products, shares, government securities, investment funds or real estate, but it is also worth thinking about purchasing energy-efficient household appliances. These modern devices not only make our lives more comfortable, but their use can also significantly reduce our utility costs. For example, if we buy a used apartment with the purchase price including the existing refrigerator, freezer, and washing machine, it may seem like a reasonable solution to continue using them, but if we do the math, these appliances can actually drain the family budget by significant amounts. If it is time to replace them or if repairs are not economical, how can we choose new solutions that can be good purchases from a financial perspective? The experts at LG Electronics Magyar Kft. will now explain the most important information.

The silent energy eater of the kitchen

Teenage refrigerators with freezers use approximately 400 kilowatt hours of energy per year, while even older models can consume up to twice as much. If we replace our old appliance with a B-rated, bottom-freezer model that consumes only 137 kWh/year, our electricity bill can be reduced by more than 10,000 forints annually – depending on whether the household’s electricity consumption falls into the reduced-utility category. And when replacing an older, more energy-hungry refrigerator, we can do even better, as we can save up to 30,000 forints on utility bills.

The key to saving money lies in modern technology. Refrigerators equipped with so-called Linear Inverter or Smart Inverter compressors consume up to a third less energy than conventionally designed appliances. In addition, these devices are not only more economical and durable, but also operate much quieter, which can be a particularly important aspect in an apartment with a popular American kitchen, where the refrigerator is located in the same air space as the living room.
