A Transylvanian meat plant would increase its turnover on the Hungarian market
The Bertis group from Sepsiszentgyörgy would increase its turnover on the Hungarian market with an e-free product line consisting of a new type of meat products, the company told MTI.
According to the announcement, the company’s products represent the traditional Transylvanian taste on the domestic market, and their customer base would be expanded in the near future with meat products preserved with natural ingredients, largely produced by hand.
Bertis mostly buys the raw material from the meat factory in Mohács. Approximately 5 percent of the annual 4,200 tons of meat is returned to Hungary in processed products, the rest is sold abroad – they wrote in response to MTI’s question.
Based on the announcement, the market share of the company founded in 1992 is 80 percent in the Romanian counties with a Hungarian majority, and 20-30 percent in the rest of Transylvania.
Employing almost 1,200 employees, Bertis SLR has grown from a garage company to a regional market leader. They currently operate factories in Sepsiszentgyörgy and Gyergyószentmiklós, and in their own stores they also offer products from other Hungarian manufacturers. Their products are offered in Hungary under the brand name Székely Csemege.
Their subsidiary, founded 3 years ago, was unprofitable last year according to the public report, but it closed with a turnover of almost HUF 500 million.
