Europe imports more eggs
Data from the Agricultural Economics Research Institute (AKI) and KSH’s market price information system (PÁIR) informs that in addition to the current 18, five more Hungarian meat companies have been granted permission to export their products to Singapore. What is more, beef has also been put on the list of export products.
According to data from the European Commission, the EU’s egg product import surged by 69 percent to 21,000 tons in the January-August 2018 period. More than 10,000 tons came from Ukraine. Data by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reveals that in the same period Hungary imported 25 percent less egg (12.9 thousand tons) and within this 12 percent less fresh egg (4.2 thousand tons) than in the same period of 2017. Most of the eggs came from Poland (3.5 thousand tons), Slovakia (2.4 thousand tons) and Germany (2.2 thousand tons), and 78 percent of the fresh eggs we imported (3.3 thousand tons) were also sold by these three countries.
