Growing consumer interest in new payment technologies
Mastercard’s Digital Payments Index – launched in 2020 – continued to grow in 2022, scoring 61 out of 100.

This means a 3-point increase compared to the previous year. The result was calculated from the scores of the three pillars of the index: 76 points for Infrastructure, 55 for Knowledge and 52 for Usage. However, cash remains a big challenge in Hungary, owing to its strong positions. There is a significant difference between the two components of the basic pillar: the use of cashless payment scored 76, while the penetration of payment methods is at a relatively low level of 29. //
