Higher customer requirements
Though quality, price and assortment are still the most important customer considerations in Hungary, the possibility of using debit cards for payment became significantly more important for customers in 2006, according to the Shopping Monitor prepared by Gfk Hungária. Customer requirements are definitely getting higher. In hyper markets, the extra services offered and the length of time they are open are primary considerations, whereas polite service, a wide selection of domestic products and closeness to customers’ homes are not as important as these. In supermarkets, proximity, polite service and the appearance of the store, availability of domestic products and the possibility of using a debit card are also major considerations. This is also the store type where the name and tradition are more important for customers than elsewhere. In general, customers expect more from supermarkets and hyper markets, than discount stores and small, neighbourhood stores.
