Pond fish production increased last year

Last year, the fish production of Hungarian pond farms increased, reaching 21,353 tons, 4 percent more than in the previous year, according to the sectoral summary of the Institute of Agricultural Economics (AKI).
The decisive share of fish production has been provided by three regions for several years, so in 2020 the 84.3 percent of fish meat production was concentrated in the Northern Great Plain, Southern Transdanubia and the Southern Great Plain. Examined by counties, most fish were still produced in Hajdú-Bihar county, but significant quantities were also produced in Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok, Somogy, Békés, Baranya, Csongrád-Csanád and Tolna counties.
