The revenue of McDonald’s restaurants in Hungary increased last year
The net sales of Progress Étteremháros Kft., which operates McDonald’s restaurants in Hungary, increased significantly last year by 43 percent, but at the same time, its pre-tax profit decreased by 22 percent, mainly due to the increase in costs, the company told MTI.
The company’s net sales revenue in 2022 increased from HUF 51.4 billion to HUF 73.6 billion in the previous year, while its pre-tax profit decreased from HUF 7.3 billion to HUF 5.7 billion, mainly due to sales of raw materials and other material expenses, as well as the due to an increase in wage costs. They noted: since the prices of McDonald’s products did not follow the rise in the price of energy or raw materials, the company’s profitability decreased somewhat.
The value of the company’s fixed assets increased by around HUF 14.8 billion last year as a result of the new restaurant openings and renovations implemented as part of its growth strategy. In 2022, the Hungarian McDonald’s network was expanded by 14 restaurants, and 21 restaurants operated by its own and franchise partners were also renovated according to the “Experience of the Future” concept, they announced.
Primarily due to the new openings, they were also able to increase the number of employees, around 7,900 people work in the chain of restaurants, in the 112 restaurants currently operating and in the company’s headquarters. The company recalled that the first McDonald’s opened in Hungary 35 years ago, on Régiposta Street in Budapest. In the weeks after the opening, the restaurant served 10-11 thousand guests a day, often 10-15 customers in a minute. Today, the restaurant network welcomes more than 70 million guests annually in its 112 units in Hungary.
