EU pork production has increased
In March 2020, slaughterhouses in the European Union produced about 2 million tonnes of pork and 600,000 tonnes of beef. This meant a 3.3 percent increase in pork production, compared to the same period of a year before, and a slight 0.4 percent decline in beef production, according to agrarszektor.hu.
The figures suggest that meat production in the European Union was not immediately met by the restrictive measures imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic, which began to be ordered and implemented in March 2020. The data are from Eurostat’s analysis. (agrarszektor.hu, Szedlák Levente)
