NGM: the number of successful businesses with female management is increasing
The number of successful businesses with female management is increasing – stressed László Hunyadi, the Deputy State Secretary responsible for business development of the Ministry of National Economy (NGM) on Tuesday at the professional conference entitled “Women’s competitiveness – The role of female leaders in the success of companies” at the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BKIK) .
He said that currently around 247,000 female owners and 162,000 female managers who are entitled to register their companies contribute to the successful operation of domestic social enterprises, and 81,000 enterprises are headed exclusively by female company managers.
The OECD’s report on women’s businesses also shows an encouraging picture, according to which 8.1 percent of adult women in Hungary started their own businesses, which exceeds the EU average of around 6 percent, the Deputy State Secretary pointed out.
He said that NGM considers it its task to review the support policy system and strives to give opportunities to underrepresented groups of companies, including women’s businesses.
László Hunyadi emphasized that they consider it important to motivate women to become entrepreneurs, and they can help with this through mentoring as a business development tool.
He indicated that the national business development mentor program will be restarted in the second half of 2025, in which women’s businesses will also have the opportunity to participate.
At the conference, the deputy state secretary drew attention to the fact that the women’s entrepreneur section of the National Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers (VOSZ) was created, which can represent the interests of women entrepreneurs as an umbrella organization.
