NGM: the performance of the tourism sector is growing dynamically
Based on the latest data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH) and the National Tourist Information Center (NTAK), in February 2024, both the number of guest nights and the number of guests increased dynamically. Thus, after the month of January, the sector’s performance in February also surpassed the results of the record year 2019 – the Ministry of National Economy (NGM) highlighted in its commentary on Thursday, evaluating the latest data.
As a result, the increase in tourism performance makes a significant contribution to the restart of economic growth, they pointed out. In the second month of the year, more than 883,000 guests arrived at Hungarian accommodations, which was 23 percent higher than last year and 2 percent higher than the same period of the record year 2019. In February 2024, domestic accommodations registered around 2.2 million guest nights, which represents a 19 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year and exceeds the 2019 level by 7 percent, the NGM cited the data.
