NGM: the government is extending the 5+1-point catering industry action plan to include pastry shops
The government is extending the 5+1-point catering industry action plan to include pastry shops, the Ministry of National Economy (NGM) told MTI.
The ministry highlighted that pastry shops are a stable pillar of domestic catering and an important part of Hungarian gastronomy. More than 3,000 pastry shops operate in Hungary, with a revenue exceeding 127 billion forints. At the suggestion of the Hungarian Confectionery Industry Association, the government is extending the 5+1-point hospitality industry action plan to include pastry shops, which could mean a total of 9-12 billion forints in support for Hungarian pastry shops in 2026.
Hungary’s resources should not be in Ukraine, but with Hungarian businesses, and thus with players in the tourism sector – they wrote.
They emphasized:
The government is giving special support to the situation of the hospitality sector, which is one of the most important driving forces of tourism, and is constantly working to make the daily operations of the sector’s players easier. In order to support the sector, the government launched the 5+1-point catering industry action plan in January, which mobilizes 100 billion forints – for restaurants – and thereby contributes to increasing the performance of domestic tourism.
The ministry recalled that the Hungarian Confectionery Industry Association contacted the Ministry of National Economy and requested on January 28 that the action plan be extended to pastry shops. The government, accepting the sector’s demand and professional comments, is extending the 5+1-point action plan to pastry shops. This could mean roughly 9-12 billion forints in support for more than 3,000 pastry shops this year – the information sheet reads.
