Growth in economic activity in the euro area has slowed
The final value of the euro area composite purchasing manager index (PMI) compiled by aggregating manufacturing and services data was 59 points for August. Although moderately lower than the July high of 60.2 points of June 2006. It still marked one of the largest increases in the last 15 years. The final August figure was also below the 59.5 points reported as a preliminary figure in the middle of the month. (MTI)
