Germany, traditionally our largest market for agricultural products continued to show expansion in 2006. The rate of expansion was 5,5 per cent, which was below the average, but revenues of EUR 536 million still accounted for 15 per cent of our total agricultural export. The key product was still poultry, with a share of 13 per cent, while other important products were vegetables, wheat, corn, wine etc. Exports of pork, dried paprika, sunflower seed, wheat and frozen fruits grew significantly, while that of ethylene multiplied by more than a hundred! Agricultural imports from Germany accounted for 22.5 per cent of total agricultural imports in 2006 and amounted to nearly EUR 600 million. Expansion was less than average with 8,7 per cent. Imports of pork accounted for 10 per cent of the total, showing a decline of 15 per cent compared to the preceding year. Nearly 30 per cent of imports from Germany were composed of products from developing countries. Imports of processed tobacco increased six fold, while that of bananas doubled.
