It is not easy for French snail breeders
Last year was desperate for French snail breeders – magyarmezogazdasag.hu wrote after The Guardian. Due to the coronavirus crisis, the shortage of tourists and the closure of restaurants have already led to a significant drop in consumption during the year, and Christmas fairs have also stalled, which has also damaged the sector.
Edible terrestrial snails, stuffed back into their shells, are often served with butter and garlic, a classic appetizer at traditional year-end celebrations in France. Because of this, snail farmers typically realize 70 percent of their annual income in November. (magyarmezogazdasag.hu, Nagy Z. Róbert)
