Nébih: the State Fisheries Service prevented the planting of invasive fish species
The State Fisheries Service of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih ÁHSZ) has already banned the planting of invasive fish species, such as silver crucian carp, in two cases this year in Hungary’s registered fisheries water areas, Nébih announced on its website on Wednesday.
In addition, in 2024, the fish watch service initiated proceedings six times for violations related to the planting and trade of invasive fish species.
According to the announcement, one of the priority tasks of the Nébih ÁHSZ is to check the regularity of fish stocking and the traceability of fish intended for stock replenishment. For lake farms, the spring period means the beginning of the population of the lakes, since the fish farmers then plant part of the fish they have produced from the wintering lakes into the fish farming water areas.
