NAV checks: they will have to watch if they are in the crosshairs
The National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) has published its audit plan for 2023. This year, the tax authority is paying special attention to electronic commerce, businesses dealing with dietary supplements, fuels and air conditioning equipment. Moreover, with its systems that also use artificial intelligence, NAV will be even more efficient in selecting exactly whom to check.
In recent years, the tax authority has made significant progress in the fight against the black economy: the tax gap has decreased spectacularly, i.e. tax amounts that have been hidden until now have become visible to the tax authority, and the office is collecting them more successfully. At the same time, NAV has become a customer-centric service provider and offers administrative facilitation and assistance to law-abiding taxpayers.
Webshops, food distributors and construction companies can also expect a comprehensive inspection this year, but the tax office will also be knocking on the doors of marketing, advertising, media service providers and film production companies. The authority continues to strictly monitor the tax procedures for new vehicles placed on the market in Hungary. Following the changed market trends, dietary supplement and fuel distributors, as well as air conditioning sales and installers, can expect inspections in the coming months.
