Thanks to the national hail mitigation system, claims for only 32,000 hectares were filed, despite last year’s extreme weather – the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) said in a statement sent to MTI on Monday.

They highlighted: The ice mitigation system has been in operation since 2018. Such a nationwide defense system was operated in Europe only in Hungary.

In 2017 (the last year when the nationwide ice damage mitigation system was not yet operational) farmers reported 72,000 hectares of agricultural ice damage. In the first year of the defense, in 2018, only 22 thousand hectares, and in 2019, 37 thousand hectares. (MTI)
