A large-scale campaign is launched for Hungarian bees and beekeepers
The aim of the comprehensive professional collaboration and social campaign is to raise awareness of the ecological importance of bees, to improve the economic situation and competitiveness of the beekeeping sector, which provides a livelihood for some 20,000 families, and to encourage domestic honey consumption. Hungary is the third largest honey producing country in the European Union, however, despite the growing trend, domestic honey consumption lags behind the EU average of 1.7 kilograms per capita per year.
