Pepsi’s big shot in the energy drink market
PepsiCo Inc opened a new front in its battle with Coca-Cola Co in the energy drinks market, with a USD 3.85 billion deal to buy Rockstar Energy Beverages. The deal is also the latest move by PepsiCo to reduce the company’s dependence on its core sugary drinks and salty snacks. PepsiCo already distributes Rockstar products in some markets, and has a smaller presence in the energy drink segment with its Mountain Dew Kickstart and Mountain Dew Game Fuel brands.
