Labor situation in the USA and Germany

According to the US Labor Office, employers added 339,000 new jobs to the labor market in May, which significantly exceeds both the previous month’s 294,000 and the 190,000 expected by experts. Despite all this, the unemployment rate surprisingly rose from 3.4% to 3.7%, and the number of those who remain unemployed for 15-26 weeks is 885,000. The entertainment and hospitality industry leads the list of the biggest contributors to job creation. According to the numbers of the competent American association, AHLA, more than 100,000 hotel jobs are vacant, despite the fact that wages are at an all-time high above $23 an hour. 97% of the responding companies struggle with a labor shortage, 49% mention a serious labor shortage. On average, 9 people are missing from the staff per hotel. In order to alleviate the deficit, 75% increase wages, 64% recommend greater flexibility in working time organization, 36% expand the range of other benefits, and despite this, 87% claim that they cannot fill their deficit position. According to their survey, the biggest shortage is in the field of housekeeping.
