Workforce, trends and prices
The Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BKIK) has conducted a survey with the participation of restaurant and confectionery owners and guests. It has found that young people’s salary expectations are too high. It is very difficult to find skilled workers for confectioneries and restaurants. Due to the workforce shortage owners and managers must do too many tasks themselves.
In eating the ‘free-from’ trend dominates. The answers from 2,000 guests revealed that people decide where to eat based on the price – nice food is only the seventh most important factor in choosing a restaurant. Two thirds of respondents are willing to pay maximum HUF 4,000 for a main dish. In a pub they don’t want to pay more than HUF 779 for a pint of beer and HUF 494 for 100 ml of wine. //
