B.K.: When designing the new format, we examined several international examples. We created the so-called closed islands in hypermarkets, because these spaces require a compact, well-defined unit. However, shopping malls called for a more open, walk-around design – the open islands.

B.K.: We expect the format to appeal to a new, previously underserved group of players. The long-term result of this will be multi-pronged revenue growth and a higher level of service.

B.K.: After a few months it is already clear that the concept is living up to our expectations: the sales figures are very encouraging. The modern, clean look, fast service, and easy accessibility have all contributed to the new islands becoming popular very quickly. By the end of April this year we plan to have a total of ten locations.

B.K.: In addition to the open islands in Corvin Plaza, players can now also find them in the Pólus Center and we will soon be opening in Allee, Árkád, and the KÖKI terminal. Closed islands are located in the SPAR and INTERSPAR stores in Kaposvár and Veszprém. The plan is that we will be welcoming players in Budapest, Kecskemét, and Szentendre too by the end of April.
