Everything by iPhone
iPhone owners are an important target group for bar and restaurant owners. In November, an official statement by Apple revealed that more than 100,000 applications can be downloaded for iPhone from the App Store site. Most of them are connected to restaurant services and tourism. For instance, Pizza Hut’s ordering programme is plain simple and easy to use. On the touchscreen, guests can use their fingers to set the size of the pizza they would like. For gourmet iPhone owners restaurant guides like the Good Food Guide, compiled by The Sydney Morning Herald, will be available from 2010. Thanks to the device’s GPS, with the push of a button iPhone owners will learn where the nearest restaurants featured in the book can be found. Starbucks’ new application, myStarbucks helps iPhone and iPod users to find the nearest Starbucks. The application Happy Houred takes you to bars in big US cities where drinks are cheap at a given part of the day. “Bionic Eye” for iPhone 3GS is also an application that navigates owners to restaurants or cafés. It is an augment reality application that overlays information about nearby points of interest over the phone’s camera.
