Retail and wholesale are going through exciting changes. It isn’t enough to offer a large selection of products and in-store service: a much bigger system of services is needed to serve customers the way we want to.
METRO’s position in Hungarian retail is special, because we are wholesalers and primarily the supplier partners of the domestic HoReCa sector. METRO is convinced that we can only be successful if these HoReCa businesses are thriving. In order to be able to contribute more to the success of these enterprises, we need to provide them not only with a wide range of top products, but also with many services that suit their needs.
In addition to the product selection that is tailored to the needs of professionals, we also have a fully personalised delivery service, called METRO MAX. Recently we have launched a HACCP counselling service. Our latest project aims at strengthening hospitality enterprises and the relationship between METRO and these businesses with the help of digital solutions.
It is enough to mention that nearly half of Hungarian bars and restaurants don’t have their own website yet. METRO has launched a multi-stage project, in the first phase of which we provide hospitality businesses with free website design software. By using this they can have their own website in just 5 minutes. Soon we will come out with a table booking and food ordering application, which will also be free for bar and restaurant owners.
In trading we need to keep looking for new ways of creating value, instead of just thinking in a transaction-focused fashion. One of the biggest challenges in this will be preparing our workers for these new tasks. //
